My name is Kevin. I have written a couple of blogs before this one. I was born in Penang, studied and worked here. Whilst Penang is my home town I have travelled to Europe and other parts of South-East Asia. I want to write this blog as a way of sharing with you my love for the variety of food, the many ethnic influences and the scenes of this beautiful island Pulau Pinang. I want you as you sip your coffee to come with me on a journey of the senses, the sights, the sounds, the smells and the tastes that make my hometown so unique. As I go around the island you can share in this experience just as I am experiencing it.

As a young man in Penang I have been fascinated by the many and varied sights . I have taken many hundreds of photos of my island home and they are important to me. In this blog I want to share these photos with you in such a way that you will engage with my Penang in your individual way. To achieve this aim I have decided to present the photos as sketches thus enabling you to fill in the spaces with your impressions as you read my blog. I hope you enjoy this engagement with me, my photos/sketches of Penang, its food and its cultural heritage. What do I love about Penang?
What stirs me as I eat the Nasi Lemak? Why do I like the Malay food here at this place. Why is Gurney drive so evocative to my senses? How do I combine all the influences that have brought Penang to this state...the British, the Malay, the Chinese, the Indian and all the other more recent influences from Japan, Korea, Germany, France, Italy?
